Shanghai bis

The most important reason to visit Shanghai, was to visit my family, where we could stay the night. Oom Helmut, tante Joyce, Laura and Sarah, thanks for the open house. We loved our stay with you guys. Also, thank you, tante Joyce, for telling us of two very interesting shopping places: the one on Nanjing road and Yu Garden. We had a good time trying out our negotiating skills.

Nanjing Road provides a glimpse of the ever more increasing wealth of China. Ferrari, Porsche, Mercedes, Zara, ... all have found their place in this metropolis. The hotels in the city center add to the "I must be in New York"-feeling. Yu Garden (see the picture in the middle) provides another shopping experience. In a more "ancient China" scenery you walk around in small streets with lots of little shops. Yu Garden also gives you another typical thing for China: too many people in small places.

Another very nice experience we had was - not striding, because striding is forbidden!- along a famous part along the Huangpu river, known as The Bund. You can enjoy the amazing view of the "highest" skyscrapers in the world. Strolling along The Bund, where a kiteselling lady said this to Eva, I quote: "You are so white... and I am so black." Hilarious.
